About Dragones Software

Built in a metal service center, for metal service centers.

After decades in the metals industry, we went looking for a better CRM. We priced the general-purpose ones, with the integrations they would need, and the arithmetic sent us the other way.

Our story.

In 2017 we went looking for a better way for metal service centers to run sales: the customer conversations, the follow-ups, the account history that usually lives in one person's head.

The obvious route was to buy something general-purpose, Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics, and pay for custom integrations into the metals ERPs. We priced it. Between the licenses, the integration work and the maintenance of that integration forever, that route cost more than it returned, and it still would not have tracked a pound of shipped weight.

So we built the CRM instead. Dragones Software started there, and Dragones CRM has been in continuous development ever since, tightly integrated with the ERPs the industry actually runs, or standalone where it has to be.

Your data is in its own database.

Software this specific ends up holding the account history, the quotes and the orders your sales floor runs on. Every customer gets a separate database, you can host it yourself or let us host it in Azure, and the agreement runs month to month.

Isolation is usually a promise about configuration. One shared database, a column on every table recording which company a row belongs to, and a filter on every query that has to apply it. It holds as long as every query gets it right, every time.

Here there is no shared table to filter in the first place. Every customer runs single tenant: one deployment, one database, one service center's data inside it. There is no tenant column anywhere in the schema, so there is nothing shared for a filter to keep you out of. The only data your environment can reach is yours.

Multi-tenant is the norm in this market, and we went the other way on purpose. Which of the two you are being sold is a fair question to put to every vendor you are looking at, because the difference is structural and it never shows up in a demo.

Where it runs, and where it can go.

Your environment is a whole system of its own, which is why it can run in more than one place. Dragones hosts it in Microsoft Azure. You can also run it on your own infrastructure, which is the answer when the policy is that the data stays in the building.

It can also move: on-premise to hosted, or hosted back to on-premise. Moving one environment means moving one customer's data rather than extracting it from everybody else's, so where the software runs is a decision you get to take more than once.

It is built for metal service centers in the US and Canada, and it runs in production at service centers today.

How we do business.

The agreement runs month to month. Annual and multi-year terms exist and they are priced better, and none of them is required. We would rather you stay because it works.

Support is included. Onboarding is guided: we start with a few key users, set the permissions around who is allowed to see what, and train around how your business actually runs instead of around a feature list. If your data is somewhere else today, including in another CRM, moving it is our work.

And what goes in comes back out. Companies and individuals, reports and forecasts, all of it exports to Excel, and you do not need us in order to do it.

We are a small company, which is a fair thing to weigh against all of the above. Short terms, a portable environment and exports you can run yourself are what we can do about it.
